Modern house exterior in the mountainside

MANA

GARFIELD COUNTY, COLORADO

Modern wooden house exterior with brick walls, butterfly roof and walkway

The butterfly roof was carefully designed to take in spectacular views with large overhangs that shelter the patios and keep the interiors cool and protected from the intense Colorado sun. The staggering views are respected, and the huge roofs rise up to the views in an effort to embrace the tops of the granite canyon walls.

The Inyanga Ranch is a special piece of the American West. RKD was asked to design the primary residence, a barn, and a smaller jewel of a home, Mana, that would serve the owners needs for several years until the main home was completed. Mana is the smaller of two homes designed for the Inyanga Ranch. The larger home is in development and can be viewed conceptually here.
